Why here

Dripping Springs is a town of 4,000 in the Texas Hill Country, 45 minutes west of Austin. It bills itself the Wedding Capital of the World, with 30+ wedding venues in the area, and the first legal distillery in Texas since Prohibition opened here in 2008. Hamilton Pool, a natural grotto with a 50-foot waterfall, is 15 minutes away. The town is the gateway to the Hill Country, where the limestone hills start.

Dripping Springs is where the Hill Country starts, the first limestone hills rising west of Austin, and the town grew up around three things, the weddings, the spirits, and the springs. The wedding-industrial complex, with 30-plus venues tucked into the hills, is the reason the town is booked every weekend. The spirits side came next, Dripping Springs Distilling opened in 2008 as the first legal Texas distillery since Prohibition, and Deep Eddy Vodka and Treaty Oak Gin followed. The springs, the natural seeps and pools the town is named for, feed Hamilton Pool, the collapsed grotto with a 50-foot waterfall that is the most photographed swimming hole in Texas.

A weekend in Dripping Springs is a spirits-and-springs weekend. Tour Dripping Springs Distilling, hike Hamilton Pool, eat at Tillie's at Camp Lucy, and drive the Hamilton Pool Road scenic loop. Come March through May or October through November. Hamilton Pool requires a reservation, book a month ahead.
